Well, typical of any winter month in Colorado, the mountains are too heavily blanketed with snow for 4 wheeling in our rigs. We decided to head south to the Ram Off-Road Park, located outside of Colorado Springs. It turned out to be an absolutely beautiful day. The skies were clear and the temperature was very comfortable. Ram Off-Road Park has both four-wheel drive and two-track trails and obstacles. Fortunately, the two tracks tend to stay in an area that is more fun and challenging for them, leaving the 4x4 obstacles less congested for us. When you reach the area with the 4x4 obstacles, it doesn't look like there is a whole lot there that will challenge your Jeep. However, upon closer examination it quickly becomes apparent that there are some very good obstacles for flexing and testing your suspension and driving skills.
On this particular trip four members of Patrol 14 came out to play. Gary Boudreau in the green , Bill David in the red YJ, John Over in the green YJ, and Dave Spence in the orange JK.
A big thanks to Gary for his efforts in leadership and spotting skills on the various challenges.

Gary is spotting Trudy (his wife) coming up one of the first set of obstacles. Trudy always does a great job as a driver. Gary is always happy to spot anyone, but, in particular, his own rig.
Here you can clearly see the air under Gary’s YJ as he exits one of the very first obstacles we attempted. Your first thoughts when looking at this obstacle is that it isn’t going to be easy but you have no idea that it is actually going to lift your front enough to pull the wheel off the ground.
Trudy coming up one of the obstacles that surprises you. No idea you’re going to lift your tire so high. Gary was spotting and Trudy was driving. Fortunately, this ended well and no one was hurt. Well, maybe Gary’s hearing was affected after he got in the jeep and Trudy gave him a good lecture about spotting.

John decided to exit the above obstacle in a different location. All of this doesn’t look like such a big deal to the casual eye, but notice the air under John’s passenger tire.
Dave coming up the second obstacle. This was a difficult one even though it’s not seen in this picture. Pick the wrong line and you and your jeep end up on the wall to the right. This attempt was great but you can see that Dave’s jeep is drifting towards the wall.
